We are happy to present a place for southeastern North Carolina individuals and organizations to find information about grants and other financial support from the North Carolina Arts Council. For the past several years GWACA has been working with the Cape Fear Museum to manage and distribute Grassroots Arts Grant money to local and artistic non profit organizations.
The Greater Wilmington Arts and Cultural Alliance believes that Wilmington has great potential to be a place rich in diverse arts and cultural activities. In fact, our Grassroots Arts Grant recipients are proof of the powerful work being done by the community.
Here are a few quick facts about the Grassroots Arts Grants:
The Greater Wilmington Arts & Cultural Alliance and the Cape Fear Museum distributed $51,875 on behalf of the North Carolina Arts Council this year.
GWACA received $8,475 that supports administrative staff and associated costs of administering grants; maintaining the website; and hosting quarterly Gatherings.
19 Arts & Cultural Organizations with valid 501 (c) 3 status received funding this year.
The North Carolina Arts Council requires that a representative portion of the Grassroots funds be spent for programming that reflects the racial and cultural diversity of the county.
If you think your arts organization might qualify please look here for more information. Applications for 2007-2008 Grassroots Arts Grants will be available on the North Carolina Arts Council website.
