and Application Deadline Announced

New Hanover County artists are invited to submit applications for FY2008-09 North Carolina Arts Council Regional Artist Project (RAP) grants. Applications must be received by the Arts Council of Fayetteville and Cumberland County by 5pm Thursday, August 28, 2007.
A free grants workshop will be held at 10am Saturday, July 26 at Cape Fear Museum, located at 814 Market Street in Wilmington. Workshop attendance is not required to submit an application but is highly recommended for first-time applicants. Other workshop locations and dates include:
Cumberland County- Thursday, July 31, 5:30 p.m. at the Arts Council, The Arts Center, 301 Hay Street, Fayetteville, NC.
Richmond County- Saturday, August 9, 5:30 p.m. at Cole Auditorium, Hamlet, NC.
Moore County- Monday, August 4, 5:30 p.m. at the Arts Council, Campbell House, 482 E. Connecticut Avenue, Southern Pines, N.C.
Robeson County Tuesday July 1, 5:30 pm at Lumberton City Hall, 500 North Cedar Street in downtown Lumberton.
The Arts Council of Fayetteville/Cumberland County will be administrating the RAP grants this year and applications must be submitted to the following address: PO Box 318, Fayetteville, NC 28302-0318. Regional Artist Project Grants funds are intended to provide financial support to a broad range of exceptionally talented visual, performing, literary and inter-disciplinary artists by funding a project that will have a significant impact on the advancement of their professional career. The project must take place between November 1, 2008, and October 31, 2009. Awards may range from $500 to $2,500.
These grants support professional artists in any discipline and at any stage in their careers to pursue projects that further their professional development. Types of fundable projects include:
Creation of new work
Purchase of equipment
Professional development workshops
Travel support for expenses associated with a professional opportunity such as participating in an exhibition or a conference
Development or upgrading of promotional materials such as brochures, video tapes, compact disks or slides
Grant amounts vary from region to region. Statewide, they generally range from$500 to $3,000.
